Senior Assistant Professor Omata received the 25th Encouragement Award at the 97th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Ultrasound in Medicine

At the 97th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Ultrasound Medicine held at Pacifico Yokohama (Kanagawa, Japan) on May 31-June 2, 2024, Dr. Hiroki Omata of Teikyo University Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Drug Delivery Laboratory Senior Assistant Professor received the 25th Encouragement Award. The Japanese Society of Ultrasonics originated in 1961 with the Kansai Branch Union Conference of the Institutes of Electrical and Related Engineers and was approved as an incorporated association in 1987, and currently consists of approximately 16,000 members. The society contributes to the development of science through research into the science and technology of ultrasound medicine, and conducts a variety of activities such as holding scientific meetings.

The Encouragement Award that Senior Assistant Professor Omata received this time recognizes young researchers who are making significant contributions to the development of ultrasound medicine, and was awarded in recognition of his research on the delivery of mRNA-loaded lipid nanoparticles to brain tumors using microbubbles and focused ultrasound as an outstanding contribution to the development of ultrasound medicine. In this research, it was revealed that by using microbubbles and focused ultrasound, it is possible to minimally invasively increase the permeability of the blood-brain barrier and promote the delivery of mRNA-loaded lipid nanoparticles, which are expected to be a new pharmaceutical drug, to brain tumors.
Upon receiving the award, Senior Assistant Professor Omata said, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the professors and students who cooperated in this research. I will continue to work hard on my research so that we can disseminate innovative ultrasound-based drug delivery technology from our university." We look forward to seeing even greater success from Senior Assistant Professor Omata.
