Hachioji CampusThe baseball team kicked off the first division spring league with consecutive wins

On Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th, 2024, the opening game of the Metropolitan University Baseball Spring League against Nippon Sport Science University was held at Batting Palace Aiishi Stadium Hiratsuka (Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture), and the Teikyo University baseball team won the first game 3-2 and the second game 4-0.

Having made it through the relegation/relegation match in November last year, the team returned to the first division for the first time in three seasons. The bench and stands came together to put on a fantastic game against Nippon Sport Science University, last year's first division autumn league winners.
In the opening game, starting pitcher Ryuto Sakae (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), who was named Best Nine last fall, allowed only one run, while pitcher Amato Sugawara (4th year Faculty of Medical Technology), who took over after him, pitched with such force that it didn't seem like it had been a long time since he had last pitched, overpowering the opponent and winning 3-2. In the second game, pitcher Hidenori Matsuo (4th year Faculty of Medical Technology), who was pitching for the first time since last fall's relegation match, showed great pitching, pitching seven innings without allowing a run, and from the eighth inning on, pitcher Haruma Kuno (3rd year, Faculty of Medical Technology) pitched steadily to keep the score at zero.
In the stands, students from the hardball baseball club took the lead, delivering enthusiastic support for the players on the field.

The students said, "Last year's fourth-year students were given the gift of a place to compete in the first division," and, true to the words of their slogan "Restart," they demonstrated the strength they have built up since the first match.
Please give your warm support to our university's baseball team as they take on the league matches that will continue for about a month and a half. The next match will be against Tsukuba University at Nippon Sport Science University Kenshidai Baseball Stadium (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture) on Saturday, April 13th and Sunday, April 14th.
