A health promotion class was held at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus from Friday, February 2nd to Friday, March 15th, 2024, for elderly residents of Hachioji City. This class, now in its seventh year, is being held as a collaborative project between the Department Department of Sport and Medical Science Faculty of Medical Technology, and Hachioji City.
This year, a total of nine health promotion classes were held: six classes for the general public and three classes for health promotion supporters who are involved in providing guidance in each community, which was the first time this project was held. The main content of the classes was a physical fitness test at the first session, followed by a 30-minute health lecture and a 50-minute health exercise session at the second and subsequent sessions. Senior Assistant Professor The instructors were Manabu Sanomura, Faculty of Medical Technology Department of Sport and Medical Science Associate Professor, Yasuaki Saho, Associate Professor, and Akihide Yamamoto, Senior Assistant Professor, from the University's Department of Health and Fitness, and students from the Department of Health and Fitness, Sports Health Course, provided administrative and exercise instruction assistance.
A total of 51 people participated in this class, with comments such as "It was a lot of fun," "My health awareness has increased," and "I would definitely like to participate again if the opportunity arises.
In the future, Department of Sport and Medical Science will continue to support the health and fitness of local residents in cooperation with Hachioji City.
