On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, the 20th Campus Venture Grand Prix National Competition, sponsored by the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, was held at Kazan Kaikan Hall (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), where Yuri Kato (3rd year, Faculty of Liberal Arts) from Teikyo University participated. The Campus Venture Grand Prix is a student business plan contest held in eight regions across the country since its inception in 1999, and is known as a "stepping stone for student entrepreneurs" as many students go on to start successful businesses after participating in the contest.
On the day of the national competition, 12 teams that had won regional preliminary rounds out of approximately 600 applicants took part in the final round, and a series of unique and high-level presentations were given.
Kato participated in a support program at Startup Hub Tokyo TAMA, a facility that supports entrepreneurship, and worked on creating a business plan with support from the facility's concierge, Tomohisa Ito, and others. His business plan, titled "Pochari - The Genius Discovery Project," is related to independent research, and its main business activities include operating a platform where elementary school students can share the details of their actual independent research projects, providing independent research manuals for teachers, and holding actual independent research events. With this plan, he won the Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry Secretary General Award at the Tokyo competition held on Friday, December 1st last year, and was selected to compete in this year's national competition. He also gave a presentation on his plan at the national competition, and answered the judges' questions without hesitation.
After the tournament, Kato said, ``It's an honor to be able to advance to the national tournament in this memorable 20th tournament. It's thanks to the cooperation of many people that we were able to advance to the national tournament. We would like to thank all those involved for their cooperation. In commercializing this service, we conducted interviews with many people, and we were especially surprised by the strained work situation on the part of teachers. As the number of teacher applicants is decreasing, we will commercialize this plan and provide support in order to make the work of teachers as easy as possible and create a future where students, who will be responsible for the future, can willingly apply to become teachers. I hope to do so," he said of his future goals.
