On Monday, February 19, 2024, the 2023 Faculty of Education Awards Ceremony was held at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus. Faculty of Education The award system began in 2016, and this year marked its 8th year. Faculty of Education The awards are given to individuals and organizations that have achieved outstanding academic, athletic, cultural, or welfare results or have received high evaluations from students enrolled at Teikyo University Faculty of Education. This year, seven students received individual awards from Dean Haruo Sato of Teikyo University.
Yu Ishikawa (4th year, Faculty of Education) and Rina Yamazaki (4th year Faculty of Education) aimed to contribute to their hometown of Shizuoka Prefecture. They held a special exhibition titled "Sakura Lala: I Decide the Day I Bloom" at Shizuoka Prefecture's gallery space Cotori. They also participated in the East Asian Culture City Shizuoka 2023 project, where they gave a presentation at Izu Shuzenji Library on the cultural comparison and appeal of Japanese, Chinese, and South Korea picture books as part of the "Connecting Children with Words 'En' Project." Both events were well attended by local residents, and were highly praised, leading to their awards. The award recipients commented, "We were grateful to the many local people who helped us organize these events. We want to continue to have a love for our hometowns," and "Through these activities, we realized the importance of accepting and expressing ourselves as we are."
Hibiki Obuchi (4th year, Faculty of Education), Haruki Arai (4th year, Faculty of Education), and Yamato Namai (3rd year, Faculty of Education) participated as representatives of Japan in the Japan-Korea-China trilateral exchange program of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre for International Education's "Joint Project for Promoting International Understanding Education and Global Citizenship Education in Northeast Asia through Storytelling," and were recognized for their remarkable achievements, including receiving high praise from Chinese South Korea researchers. The award recipients expressed their determination, saying, "I am delighted to be able to end my university life on a high note," "I would like to report to my Chinese friends, who I have become close with through this activity, that I have received this wonderful award," and "I would like to use this experience to become someone who can respond to and contribute to solving modern educational issues."
Natsumi Funabashi (4th year, Faculty of Education) wrote a special graduation research paper entitled "Current Situation and Issues Surrounding Support for High School Students Who Have Lost Their Place in School: Focusing on the Place Support Program and Practices at Private Full-Time High Schools." Her paper was recognized for its originality and high level of theoretical analysis. She was also recognized for her role as a campus tour leader for the student group "Campus Life Tutors," and her significant contributions to promoting the university as a cover model for the Teikyo University Guidebook 2024. Ms. Funabashi commented, "The moment my curiosity about education took shape in my special graduation research paper was a very fulfilling and fulfilling moment. I began my work as a Campus Life Tutor with a desire to give back to the university, and I am pleased that my efforts to date have been recognized."
Nishida Emina (4th year, Faculty of Education) is an active member of the student group "Campus Life Tutors" and was involved in planning new projects and running the event on the day of the open campus. She also appeared on the cover of issue 124 of the university's public relations magazine, Flair, and was recognized for her significant contributions to university management and public relations. Looking back on her four years of activities, Nishida said, "I had many opportunities to use the experience I gained from public relations activities in my teaching practice, and it was a four-year period in which I was able to grow."
