Takumi Numata, a second-year student at Teikyo University Junior College, is aiming to compete in the American Formula 4 (F4) motorsports category. Numata began his professional career in motorsports at age 17, and when choosing his career path, he enrolled in Department of Human Cultures Teikyo University Junior College, where he can graduate in two years and also study sports psychology and nutrition. The department offers seven core subjects: "Communication," "Intercultural," "Calligraphy," "Art," "Fashion," "Psychology," and "Sports," aiming to deepen understanding of people and culture and expand future possibilities. Students also take the same courses as Teikyo University's four-year undergraduate program. In "Sports Psychology," students not only learn the psychological aspects of sports and exercise instruction, but also learn how to build trust with participants and develop and execute plans to achieve their goals through evidence-based sports medicine. Numata has set two goals for himself: a final goal of how fast he will achieve a race, and a behavioral goal of how he will demonstrate his driving technique. He applies these goals to his own competitions through regular practice. As a result, at iRaching * (13th Mazda Cup) held in September 2023, Japan achieved a strong result of 4th place out of 140 Japanese competitors.
Currently, Mr. Numata is traveling to the United States in November 2023 to become the first Japanese to participate in American F4, participate in test runs, negotiate with the local team, and return to Japan. A representative from Crosslink Kiwi Motorsports, who conducted the negotiations, said, ``Mr. Numata took part in a vehicle test two days after arriving in the United States, and he showed an excellent performance,'' and ex-F1 driver and coach Roberto said.・Mr. Moreno highly praised Mr. Numata, saying, ``He can win the American F4 race.'' From now on, I will continue to work toward my goals, such as conducting sponsorship and promotional activities myself and aiming to become an internationally active F1 racer.
