Kasumigaseki CampusFrench Dairy Farming & Green Food Revolution: Kasumigaseki's Eye-Opening Workshop Reveals Surprising Insights!

In a collaborative endeavor delving into the intricacies of "French Dairy Farm Management and Local Food Systems," Teikyo University's Kasumigaseki Campus played host to an insightful study group. Spearheaded by Mihoko Morisaki, an accomplished Associate Professor in the Department of Global Japanese Studies within the Faculty of Language Studies, this initiative amplifies international joint research efforts, focusing on the convergence of Japanese and French regional development, with an emphasis on food culture and agriculture. Eminent guests, Professor Claire Delfoss from the University of Lyon II and Professor Philippe Jeannot from the Clermont-Ferrand University's esteemed Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department, graced the occasion. Their presentations shed light on the nuances of dairy farm management, including income dynamics and the challenges surrounding succession in France.

Aligning with the European Union's visionary "farm to table" strategy, Japan is fervently advancing its own "green food system strategy." Professor Jeannot illuminated the gathering on the strides made in dairy farm management, emphasizing the Egarim method stemming from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). This platform provided a unique opportunity to delve into the comparative landscapes of regional food systems in Japan and France.
The ensuing question-and-answer session proved to be a spirited exchange, characterized by candid and robust discussions. The result? A workshop that bore fruitful intellectual dividends, fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities underpinning dairy farming and local food systems on both sides of the globe.
