Itabashi CampusGlobal Academic Exchange Shines at International Summer School in Public Health

From July 1 to 8, 2023, the Teikyo University Graduate School of Public Health hosted the Teikyo International Summer School, marking a triumphant return after a three-year hiatus. This year's edition witnessed a significant milestone as it welcomed graduate students from the Department of International Health at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, a cherished academic partner. Together, they engaged in dynamic face-to-face lectures, all conducted in English. Under the guidance of Professor Yoshinori Nakata from the Department of International Health, the Healthcare Management session honed in on the intricacies of organizational management within medical institutions. From leadership principles to effective communication strategies, students delved into compelling case studies, fostering vibrant discussions that spanned the Pacific.
Associate Professor Mariko Inoue led the enlightening course on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Aging Society. In this multifaceted exploration, students delved into the global significance of UHC and its intimate connection to the Japanese healthcare framework. This session illuminated the pressing challenges faced by an aging world. Furthermore, participants immersed themselves in the landscape of public health in Japan, through immersive field visits and hands-on experiences facilitated by public health centers and specialized nursing homes in Tokyo.
