Hachioji CampusTriumphant Teikyo University Students Shine at 51st Kanto Student Karatedo Tournament

In a fierce display of prowess, Aoi Funada and Kotomi Sato, both hailing from Teikyo University's esteemed Faculty of Medical Technology, emerged as champions in their respective categories at the 51st Kanto Student Karatedo Tournament. The event, held at the illustrious Keio University Hiyoshi Memorial Hall in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, served as both a prestigious individual competition and a gateway to the highly anticipated All Japan Student Karate-do Championships. Despite the absence of onlookers, the venue crackled with palpable energy as students from various universities showcased the fruits of their relentless dedication to their craft.

Remarkably, Teikyo University clinched victory with a first-year student, Kotomi Sato, who had been part of the university for a mere two months. Reflecting on this achievement, Masao Kagawa, the dedicated director and instructor of the Karate club, extended his heartfelt congratulations, stating, "I implore you to relish in the triumph you have brought to our club. For those who may find themselves disheartened, remember, today's setback is but a stepping stone towards future glory." He further emphasized, "Victories may at times be serendipitous, but defeats are never arbitrary. There exists a lesson in each one." As a testament to their tenacity, 22 students from Teikyo University will now advance to the pinnacle of collegiate karate, the All Japan Student Karate Tournament, scheduled to take place in the historic city of Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture on July 2nd.
