Hachioji CampusTeikyo University Joins Global Consortium for Japanese Studies

Teikyo University's Faculty of Language Studies has forged a new alliance in the realm of global academia by becoming a member of the esteemed "Global Japanese Studies" consortium. This dynamic organization, established in 2017, boasts a roster of 20 affiliated institutions, including Teikyo University's Faculty of Language Studies, along with Meiji University's School of Global Japanese Studies, and the Graduate School of Global Japanese Studies. Additionally, the Inter-University Research Institute Corporation, National Institute for the Humanities, and International Research Center for Japanese Studies play pivotal roles in coordinating efforts to discern the evolving research needs of universities championing "international Japanese studies."
This collaborative initiative aims to propel "global Japanese studies" through an amalgamation of academic joint ventures and international workshops, thereby fortifying the scholarly groundwork for this evolving discipline. A paramount objective is the nurturing of young researchers, empowering them to contribute significantly to this academic frontier. As this consortium continues to deepen its affiliations with member institutions, the future holds promise for the widespread proliferation of international Japanese studies, cultivating a diverse cadre of individuals poised to foster a harmonious society.
