Breakthrough Study Led by Prof. Akimoto Reveals New Insights into Tumor Growth and Metastasis

A research group led by Assistant Professor Miho Akimoto (Senior Professor Mimi Adachi), Department of Biochemistry, Teikyo University School of Medicine, and Specially Appointed Researcher Keizo Takenaga, Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute, has discovered that improvement of inflammatory microenvironment occurring in the hypoxic region in colon cancer tumor tissue is effective in suppressing tumor growth and metastasis. This research was supported by a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).
