Teikyo University Students and Faculty Provide Life-saving Support at the 2023 Itabashi City Marathon

In a remarkable display of community engagement, students and faculty members from the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course within the Department of Sport and Medical Science at Teikyo University's Faculty of Medical Technology actively participated as life-saving volunteers at the 2023 Itabashi City Marathon, held in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo. The Itabashi City Marathon, which took place along the approximately 21km course of the Arakawa riverbed, encompasses a full marathon event and is a race open to citizens. Teikyo University students have been steadfastly contributing to this event by offering their support through volunteer activities year after year.

Under the backdrop of favorable weather conditions conducive to smooth running, Teikyo University's students stationed at various medical aid points came equipped with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and first aid kits, prepared to respond to any injuries or cardiac emergencies that might arise among the impressive turnout of over 15,000 citizen-runners. Through their participation in this invaluable volunteer work, students not only gained hands-on experience in providing immediate medical care and support but also grew personally and professionally. The real-world application of their training promises to foster their development further, aligning perfectly with Teikyo University's commitment to hands-on education and community service.
