Hachioji CampusSuccessful Graduation Research Symposium at Teikyo University Showcases Commitment to Sports Medicine

On Monday, February 6, 2023, Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus was abuzz with scholarly vigor as the Faculty of Medical Technology, Department of Sport and Medical Science, Sports Health Course, held its annual graduation research symposium. The event witnessed lively exchanges of questions and answers among participating students and faculty, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of academic dialogue.

One of the highlights of the day was the presentation by Mr. Ryusei Tani (4th-year student, Faculty of Medical Technology) on his research project titled, "The Impact of Preventive Taping for Knee Joint Injuries on American Football Player Performance." Tani, who actively served as a student trainer for the American Football team, utilized the university's state-of-the-art facilities to delve into this topic. Reflecting on his research journey, he shared, "Through my graduation research, I realized that delving into yet-to-be-discovered phenomena involves intricate experimentation and rigorous analysis. Embracing diverse perspectives has been an invaluable experience for my future endeavors. The guidance received from my supervising professor during this research was profoundly enlightening. I believe that the significance of graduation research in my university journey cannot be overstated." Professor Muneyuki Miyakawa from the same department emphasized, "Graduation research serves as the culmination of one's academic pursuits in university. Engaging in this endeavor will undoubtedly yield practical benefits in one's future life. Building upon the knowledge and skills acquired through lectures and practical training, students delve into previous research, conduct personal observations, and experiments, amassing new evidence. By synthesizing this information, they cultivate a fresh understanding, drawing closer to solutions for the questions that intrigued them. This, in essence, is the essence of research and academia. As graduates who comprehend the importance of deliberating with a foundation in sound evidence, I look forward to witnessing your contributions to society." The symposium not only showcased the dedication and curiosity of Teikyo University's students but also underlined the institution's commitment to fostering critical thinking and advancing knowledge in the field of sports medicine. As these graduates embark on their journeys beyond the university, they carry with them the transformative experiences and insights gained through their graduation research.
