Hachioji CampusSport and Medical Science Students Win Mayor's Award in Hachioji Student CM Contest

On Sunday, January 29th, 2023, the University Consortium Hachioji hosted the Hachioji Student CM Contest film screening and award ceremony at the Hachioji Gakuen City Center in Tokyo. The Anai Seminar, a group of students from the Department of Sport and Medical Science at Teikyo University, won the Mayor of Hachioji Prize. The Hachioji Student CM Contest called for 30-second video commercials on the theme of "living in Hachioji" for university and vocational school students starting in July 2022. The contest aimed to help students learn about the diverse attractions of Hachioji and become more attached to the community. This year, the contest received 43 submissions from students attending universities with campuses in Hachioji City, the second highest number ever.

The Anai Seminar students explored the charms of Hachioji and created videos using a smartphone and a specific app. At the awards ceremony, Teppei Nishino, a third-year student in the Faculty of Medical Technology, received a certificate of commendation from Mayor Takashi Ishimori on behalf of the seminar. After thanking Mayor Ishimori, Nishino said, "It's a work that was created by sports-loving students who had no connection to video production and who discussed what to do from scratch and made it together." The Anai Seminar students worked together towards a common goal and ultimately won the Hachioji City Mayor's Award at the Hachioji Student CM Contest. Sayaka Anai, the assistant professor of the Department of Sports and Medical Science in the Faculty of Medical Technology, who was in charge of the seminar, praised the winning students, saying, "These students have diverse energies, but at the beginning of the project, they were not clear about what they wanted to do. In the end, they were able to decide what they wanted to do this year, and they were able to submit a work by pooling the experiences, abilities, and ideas of each individual. I hope that the third-year students will reflect on the process up to this point and use it for their activities next year." The selected works will be shown on street vision screens in Tokyo and other places as promotional content for Hachioji City at a later date.
