Itabashi CampusTeikyo University Strengthens Ties with Swiss Institutions for Enhanced Medical Education

Bern, Switzerland - On Monday, January 30, 2023, the 5th Japan-Switzerland Joint Committee for Science and Technology was held in Bern with the participation of Takahide Okamoto, head of the Department of Radiological Technology at Teikyo University, and Hiroshi Tomizawa, professor of the same department. Teikyo University has been actively involved in medical education exchanges with the Swiss High School of Health Vaud (HESAV) since October 2018.

During the meeting, Jacques Ducret, head of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation's International Relations office, and members of the Japanese and Swiss committees exchanged information and ideas. At the conclusion of the meeting, a signing ceremony was held for the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding researcher and student exchange and research activities, which was originally signed with Teikyo University in 2018. On the following day, the delegation visited HESAV and the Geneva Office of the Embassy of Japan to discuss future activities with professors and administrators. On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, the delegation also visited the Paul Scherrer Institute, a possible destination for Teikyo University students seeking practical training in the field of radiological technology. In 2023, Teikyo University plans to send students to HESAV for valuable practical training and hands-on experience under the guidance of local doctors and radiological technicians. The program is designed to enhance the education of Teikyo University students and contribute to Swiss medical education.
