Hachioji CampusTeikyo University Students Win Prize at the 14th Discover Francophonie Awards

On Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Keio University's Mita Campus (Minato-ku, Tokyo), the 14th Discover Francophonie! Thirteen students from the seminars of Teikyo University Faculty of Language Studies Department of Language Studies Associate Professor Le Roux Seino Brendan and Senior Assistant Professor Atsuko Ukai participated in the event. The event aims to introduce the activities of Francophonie (a community of French-speaking people) and to deepen connections between countries of different cultures.
The 14th Discover Francophonie! was organized by the Japan Council for the Promotion of Francophonie and the Japan Society for the Teaching of French as a Foreign Language. The event featured an address by the Belgian Ambassador to Japan, a lecture, a quiz on Francophonie, and a presentation of reportage on Francophonie in Japan. Our students were divided into four groups and participated in a quiz on the Japanese and French titles of Ghibli movies, a quiz on "Why and how did the French language come to Japan?" They presented reportage on the themes of "Sports Culture in Japan and France" and "French Cuisine in Japan," and were awarded the French Language Proficiency Test Prize and the Encouragement Prize. In addition, as supplementary prizes, the students won the right to have their examination fees for the French Proficiency Test for Practical French as well as the right to watch TV5MONDE free of charge.
