Ekiden (Road Relay) ClubThe Ekiden (Road Relay) Club finished the Hakone Ekiden Outbound Road in 14th place.
In the Hakone Ekiden (the 99th Tokyo-Hakone Round-Trip Collegiate Ekiden Race) held on Monday, January 2, 2023, the Teikyo University Ekiden (Road Relay) Club finished the outbound route in 14th place. This is the 16th consecutive year and 24th time for our university to participate.
This year's tournament was held with spectators for the first time in three years, and cheering activities were held at the start and finish points of each university. The university's brass band and Cheerleading Club also came to cheer on the team, and cheers were sent to the long-distance Ekiden (Road Relay) Club, who were preparing for the competition.
In the race, the rankings in the upper double digits continued from the beginning, but Ryota Shibato (1st year, Faculty of Medical Technology) and Daiki Arai (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology) from Section 4, who were making their first appearance in the race, performed well. We persevered and climbed up the order, finishing in 14th place after 5 stages on the outbound route.
Takayuki Nakano, manager of the Ekiden (Road Relay) Club, looked back on the outward trip and said, "I couldn't follow the flow of the race, but on the return trip tomorrow, I'll aim to run at least the time difference with 10th place, and at least get the seed right." talked.
