Yohei Yamazaki, Captain of the Hachioji CampusSemi-Hardball Baseball Club, Faced the All-Japan University Semi-Hardball Baseball East-West Koshien Koshien Tournament

On Sunday, November 13, 2022, the All Japan University Semi-hard Baseball East-West Koshien Koshien Tournament, which was scheduled to be held at Hanshin Koshien Stadium (Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture), was canceled due to rain. Yohei Yamazaki (3rd year, Faculty of Economics) from the Teikyo University semi-hardball baseball club was scheduled to play as a pitcher, but unfortunately the game was not held. I was.

In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the All Japan University Semi-Hardball Baseball Federation, the East and West semi-hardball baseball teams are scheduled to compete against each other for the number one spot in Japan. Twenty-five players from both the East and West teams were selected based on the requirements of baseball, as well as academic performance and both literary and athletic prowess. Among them are the 2020 generation players who experienced the cancellation of the Koshien tournament due to the corona disaster. Athletes and student staff will arrive at the venue from November 11 (Friday), and after the opening ceremony will receive career guidance for the students. I learned about the know-how that leads to job hunting by making use of my semi-rigid experience for career development. In addition to playing games at Koshien, the participants also interacted with local children, participated in JOC integrity training to learn sportsmanship, and watched women's baseball games. Ms. Akikari Okada (Faculty of Medical Technology 4th year), a student of our university, also participated in this competition as a trainer.

The rain began to fall in the morning, and there were times when it started to lighten a bit, but by the time the players started practicing on the ground, the rain picked up, and the players were called out and told to cancel. When the cancellation was announced to the audience at the beginning of the ceremony, screams were heard here and there. Yamazaki said, "I was disappointed when I realized that the game was canceled the moment the players were called out, but I will use this experience and the lessons I learned outside of baseball to hope that next year's tournament will be held, and I will work on my practice." I talked to Mr. Okada, who is a fourth year student, said, "I feel very disappointed and frustrated because it will be the last time I will be involved in the tournament." I was able to spend a fulfilling time. The position of a student trainer is a minority even in the world of semi-hardball baseball, so I would like to spread more recognition.”

Although the tournament could not be held at Koshien after many preparations, it was a tournament that felt that the enthusiasm of the management side, not only the players but also the student staff, was reaching many people, including the media coverage. rice field. We ask for your warm support so that the event will be held again next year.

In addition, Mr. Yamazaki will participate in the Australian tour that will be held from November 22nd (Tuesday) to 29th (Tuesday) as a member of the All Japan selection team. Please pay attention to the future semi-rigid baseball club of this university.
