Hachioji CampusAssociate Professor the Faculty of Faculty of Economics clarified the relationship between the increase in the unemployment rate due to the Korona-ka and the increase in suicide and the use of social safety nets in a joint research.

Masato Furuichi, Associate Professor, Faculty of Faculty of Economics, Teikyo University, along with Michito Ando, Associate Professor, Faculty of Faculty of Economics, Rikkyo University It was clarified that it is related to the increase in suicide rate and social safety net use in (July-September).
Based on analysis results using prefectural data, a 1 percentage point increase in the unemployment rate from April to June 2020 is an increase of about 0.5 per 100,000 suicides in July 2020, unemployment benefits. It was estimated to be associated with an increase of about 28 beneficiaries, an increase of about 88 in the number of loans and uses of comprehensive support funds, and an increase of about 10 in livelihood protection beneficiaries.
