On Saturday, February 26, 2022, the championship debriefing session of the Karatedo Club of the University, which achieved brilliant results, was held at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus Curio City Hall. About 100 people participated, including graduates, graduates, and university officials.
This year's Karatedo Club has won the All Japan Student Karatedo Championships in individual competitions in 3 out of 4 events (3 crowns), and also won the All Japan University Karatedo Championships in team competitions for both men and women. The hand won the championship (3 crowns) for the first time in 12 years.

As a greeting from the organizers, the Chairman President Yoshihito Okinaga of our university"I am honored to be able to hold a debriefing session for the championship, which was not possible last year. Even during the coronavirus pandemic, he continued to practice while taking measures against infection, and has been accumulating his skills. In 2021, when the Olympics were held, there were many events, but the students overcame them and achieved great results. This is the result of the karate club's sincere daily training and the students' own efforts to demonstrate their abilities. Our university has an Educational philosophy of ""One's way", and nurtures students who can think about what they should do even in this unpredictable society. The Karate Club embodies this. I hope that students who are active on the Hachioji Campus, which has an environment for developing research activities centered on sports, will continue to watch over them with peace of mind."
Masao Kagawa, the head coach and instructor of the university's karate-do club, expressed his gratitude for holding the wonderful debriefing session and for his daily support, and then began by talking about the very big events of the 2021 academic year, revealing that "Takeshi Moriya, the president of the alumni and alumni association, who has supported the karate-do club until now, passed away, and there was a difficult time." Even under such circumstances, he said, "It was a great pleasure to see the students and graduates achieve excellent results. Under the slogan of "head-to-head" that he has been practicing since 1998, he has been practicing to accumulate the strength to overcome on his own without running away. Thanks to the university's considerations, he was able to continue practicing even during the pandemic and win the game. This year, we changed our policy a bit and left it up to coaches and students, which led to the first victory in 12 years in men's team kumite. With the support of the Center for Sports Medicine and Science at Waseda University, students can learn a lot, so I would like to continue to incorporate new methods and develop human resources who will lead the karate world." He also explained that the purpose of the drums installed in the dojo is to improve the morale of the students, and that they contain the thoughts of President Moriya.

Mr. Masago Yamamoto (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), the male captain who went up to the stage as a player representative, said, "I remember proclaiming that I would achieve four crowns at the All Japan University Karatedo Championships at the dormitory briefing session. Under the guidance of coaches, coaches, and seniors, all the students lived in one dormitory, and I think that the team power that was born as a result of mutual opinions and discussions led to the victory. Without the support of the university, this result would not have come out. I would like to ask for the support of the juniors who will do their best in the future. "
Sakiori Ishibashi (4th year, Faculty of Medical Technology), the female deputy captain, said, "In 2021, it was a year of conflict, such as cutting the ligaments of the knees and giving up participating in the final team competition at the university by participating in the world competition. I was able to win the gold medal because I made the decision in the midst of my worries. At Teikyo University, I was given the opportunity to learn important things not only in terms of technology but also as a person and grow. I must not forget my gratitude for being in a blessed environment. The support of the members gave me a family-like bond. I value this treasure-like edge. Thanks to President Okinaga and university officials who have created an environment where you can work on your knees without worrying about anything, such as a practice environment, living in a dormitory, and detailed support in case of poor physical condition or injury. I was able to come this far. I am glad that I was able to express my For parents and guardians at this place. I am grateful to all the people involved. "

While watching, the students and graduates who participated with the commentary of Kagawa Master looked back on the game.
