Overview

The International Conference "Intersections and Connections: East Asia and the World, Around 1800-1945" is a companion program of the General Assembly of the International Historical Committee co-organized by Teikyo University, the Japan Committee of the International Commission on History (ICHS), and the Japan Historical Conference.
The plenary session aims to explore various aspects of the historical process of global or transregional intersections and connections in East Asia from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century, and to discuss the diversity and heterogeneity of those processes. "Imperialism and Internationalism in East Asia: The League of Nations' Efforts to Control Opium and Improve Community Health" will be a keynote speech by Harumi Goto, Graduate School Professor of the Department of International Social Sciences, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo.
