Utsunomiya CampusTeikyo University Hosts Presentation by Turkish Exchange Student on Electric Vehicle Research

Utsunomiya, Japan - On January 24th, 2023, Teikyo University's Utsunomiya campus hosted a research presentation by an exchange student from Usak University in the Republic of Turkey. The student, who worked under the guidance of Professor Akira Kato of Teikyo University's Department of Mechanical and Precision Systems, presented findings on their research in automotive engineering for electric vehicles.

The presentation, entitled "Study on Power Consumption Improvement Method of Electric Vehicles by Mode and Real Driving Test," focused on the effects of outside air temperature and air conditioner usage on the electricity consumption of electric vehicles. The study included chassis dynamometer tests and real road tests on public roads in Utsunomiya, where electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular due to environmental concerns. The exchange student's four-month stay allowed them to deepen their research, while also providing an opportunity for students in Professor Kato's laboratory to improve their initiative and English skills through communication with the exchange student. The Q&A session was lively, with many participants asking questions and contributing to the discussion. The presentation was a fruitful exchange for both Teikyo University and Usak University, highlighting the importance of international collaboration and knowledge sharing in the field of electric vehicle research.
