Itabashi CampusA cross-disciplinary case study "pre-discharge conference" was held at the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medical Technology.

On Thursday, June 16, 2022, the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medical Technology held a "simulated pre-discharge conference" in a cross-disciplinary case study at Teikyo University Itabashi Campus. Nursing has various areas such as basics, adults, the elderly, children, motherhood, spirit, community / public health, and community / home. The purpose of this exercise is to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for nurses to eliminate the anxiety and worries of hospitalized patients and their families and to smoothly transition to home care.

Students learn in advance the situation during hospitalization of patients who are cases in the field of adult nursing before admission, and patients and their families in the same case in the field of community / home nursing are care managers and home-visit medical care / visits. I learned about decision support for introduction such as nursing.
On the day of the exercise, the third-year students of the Department of Nursing who participated shared the anxieties of the "patients" and "family" who had learned so far, and then "ward nurses," "discharge adjustment nurses," and " Divided into the roles of "visiting nurse" and "care manager", we conducted group work on cases. In the latter half of the exercise, we reorganized into a small group of mixed occupations, shared what was discussed in each occupation, and attended a mock pre-discharge conference. At the simulated pre-discharge conference, based on the created scenario, we confirmed specific anxieties and post-discharge hopes for pre-discharge patients and their families, and exchanged necessary information. After the presentation, we asked questions, feedback, and reflections from the students who were attending the lecture to establish the learning.
This exercise is a new attempt to cross-sectionally combine exercises in two areas of nursing, the area of adult nursing and the area of community / home nursing. Through the simulated pre-discharge conference, it was an opportunity to practically learn the continuous nursing necessary for patients and their families who are moving to their daily lives.
