Hachioji CampusFaculty of Language Studies Department of Global Japanese Studies 1st semester class has started

The Department of Department of Global Japanese Studies, Faculty of Language Studies, Teikyo University, which was established in April 2022, welcomed new students who will be the first students, and the classes for the first half of 2022 have started.

In this department, where 50 out of the 150 enrollment capacity are international students, we are pursuing "collaborative study" in which Japanese students and international students coexist from our usual student life. In the 1st year, in addition to the basics of international Japanese studies, Japanese students will focus on English and international students will focus on Japanese. In the compulsory class "Learn International Japanese Studies" taught by Emi Kato, a Senior Assistant Professor in this department, the students were divided into four groups, and a comparative cultural study was conducted between the countries of origin of the international students assigned to each group and Japan. International students from China, Mongolia, Hungary, and Vietnam belong to this class, and it was a class to promote understanding of different cultures through presentations.
In the first half of the 2nd year, all students take the "Language and Culture Training Program", Japanese students are from overseas (UK, New Zealand, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia), and international students are from Japan (Shiga University, Shiga University). We are planning a curriculum to acquire practical language skills and cross-cultural understanding abilities in each region.

In addition, this department will hold a reservation-based WEB counseling session "online department briefing session by faculty members" for examinees.
