New school building ward (provisional title) at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus is under construction.

Now at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus, a new school building ward, 22 stories above the ground, and 2 stories underground of seismic-isolated structure, is under construction as a part of campus renewal plans. The new building ward is designed to save energy, introducing solar power and geothermal generation etc, and to integrate with the landscape features of the Tama-kyuryo hills endowed with nature, expressing the educational philosophy and the accumulation of academic history of Teikyo University.

The primary construction area, which includes high-rise buildings and is a part of six-storied low-rise buildings, is scheduled to be completed in May, and be opened in October 2015. This area will have general-purpose classrooms with 50 to 500 seats, music rooms, various practical rooms for trial lessons and active learning. As general-purpose classrooms, there will be about 90 small-capacity classrooms to boost the sense of unity of teachers and students. Also, there will be a space with computers always-available with adjacent group-learning rooms, to support students’ autonomous learning. On basement level 1, there will be University Museum.

The secondary construction area consists of low-rise buildings connected to the first construction area and arena, and is scheduled to be completed in November 2017, and open in April of next year. This area will have general-purpose classrooms with 150 to 500 seats, a main auditorium with 1,000 seats, and a cafeteria with more than 1,000 seats.The arena equipped with viewing seats will have courts for basketball, volley ball, etc.

Having this new building-ward construction at the core of realignment, Hachioji campus will continue to back up students with the newest facilities and equipment.
