Department of Biosciences
Bioscience is a field of study and research that seeks to elucidate the framework through which plants, animals, and microbes live. The discoveries in terms of genes, proteins, hormones, etc., made possible by research in bioscience, have contributed not only to the development of new biotechnology, but also to the treatment of diseases, increasing agricultural productivity, and the resolution of environmental problems. Bioscience is not an extensive field, but is based on the synthesis of research in areas such as science, engineering, agriculture, pharmacology, and medicine. In consideration of this, this Department endeavors to train personnel who can respond to the various needs of society in both basic and applied bioscience. Students begin by learning the foundations of biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. They then go on to study molecular biology, protein engineering, microbiology, food science, and plant biology. Our graduates are active in manufacturing, quality control, marketing, and research in fields such as pharmaceuticals, foods, and agriculture.
