Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The first through third year of a six-year course in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences take place at the Sagamiko Campus, with its superior educational and research environment. The final three years are based at the Itabashi Campus, where the University Hospital is located. A Multipurpose Pharmaceutical Training Center has been established to provide thorough hands-on clinical pharmaceutical training and experience. The broad range of lectures, seminars, and practical training covers basic subjects such as chemistry and biology, continuing up to the cutting-edge of medicine and medical treatment. This department thus aims to develop pharmaceutical specialists with advanced skills and knowledge, who embody a calm and detached scientific approach with a warm, dedicated humanitarian outlook. Students are afforded ample hands-on practical training, taking full advantage of the special nature of this fully fledged medical university complete with its own University Hospital. In addition, students come into contact with the frontiers of pharmaceutical research through their assignment to research laboratories and other facilities. The fusion of cutting-edge research and hospital practice will enable students to acquire the heuristic problem-solving abilities required of medical staff.
