Department of Sport and Medical Science
In order to train leaders to support the growing number of sports lovers, and to train emergency staff to meet the demands of emergency medical treatment facilities, Teikyo University established the Department of Sport and Medical Science within the Faculty of Medical Technology. Two courses are offered in this department: Sports and Health, and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). The educational objectives of the Sports and Health Course are to cultivate a thorough understanding of the significance of sports and health guidance in modern society, to nurture a strong sense of the sanctity of life, and to acquire medical knowledge and skills to pursue a career as an athletics trainer. The Emergency Medical Technician Course aims to produce Emergency Medical Technicians who can meet the high demands of emergency medical treatment facilities. The wide-ranging curriculum includes the areas required by law to sit the Japanese Emergency Medical Technician examinations, but also trains staff to cooperate with doctors and other medical staff, and to have a rich sense of humanity, enabling important contributions to international society. It will be possible to gain the Japanese Type 1 High School and Junior High School Teacher's License for Health and Physical Education in both courses.
