Department of Clinical Laboratory Science

This program trains personnel who are not only specialists in the analysis and discussion of clinical examination data, but who can also participate in fundamental research into a broad range of medical topics. Training in the basic medical field begins in the second year, laying the foundation for specialist education in the third year. This is then put to use in the fourth year when, in addition to practical training as a future Medical Technologist in our adjoining hospital, optional courses in medical research and cytoscopy are offered. This department aims to develop in-depth and objective data management skills for basic and clinical medicine, with the intention that students will gain the Japanese Medical Technologist license upon graduation. Emphasis is placed on developing medical care personnel attuned to the globalization of medical care, who can work as effective members of a medical team, with highly developed insight and ethics, enabling them to unfailingly provide safe and congenial medical care to patients, and with a full working knowledge of medical health and safety, such as provisions against infectious diseases.
