Department of Law

The role of law in contemporary society, symbolized by ongoing globalization and environmental change, is gaining in importance, and thus society's expectations of law school graduates are increasing. In recognition of this, the Department of Law aims to develop students who understand the spirit of the law, with basic legal knowledge, logical thought processes, the ability to make considered judgments, and rational views that agree with the perspectives of society. Since academic year 2006, four courses have been offered, a Legal Practitioner's (Legal Profession) Training Course, Business Management Law Course, Administrative Law Course, and International Law Course, enabling students to specialize in their preferred field. In each course, a wide array of lectures is offered by not only university professors, but also high-caliber speakers from the legal profession and bureaucracy. We offer a rich and varied curriculum, which consists of lectures, but also legal science seminars, legal English, and computer classes in order to prepare students for a wide variety of careers in business, the civil service and so on. For students wishing to take examinations to enter post-graduate law schools, the national and regional civil service, judicial scrivener, and so on, lectures are offered on the legal profession, taught by specialist professors. These classes provide a practical education in the relevant areas and are also open to students from other faculties.
